Okay, today is a bright, sunshiny weekend, and weekend post should be inspiring, no? Getting inspired should be an effortless part of everyday life, and I'm in awe of inspiring women 'round the globe.

"Ideals are like stars", general and politician Carl Schurz once said, "you will not succeed in touching them with your hands, but like the seafaring man on the ocean desert of waters, you choose them as your guides, and following them, you reach your destiny."

This weekend I'm all into Kate White, the editor-in-chief of Cosmpolitan, and bestselling author of both fiction and non-fiction books. How did she do all that! Doesn't she also have 'only' 24 hours a day, just like the rest of us?

Luckily Kate White offers her brilliant advices on her very own website. Advices that maybe, or I should probably, follow wholeheartedly, when it comes to nurturing this secret passion on writing, even if it's only for private journaling, or let's say, for this blog :-)

And by the way, have you seen Kate White's weekend home, featured on Country Living? Boy, how I love the vibrant colours she picked for the interior. I'm particularly drawn to the lemony, Provence-inspired dining room. Says Kate: "We wanted that spirit in our home--the beautiful smells, the great food, the sensuousness of that life." Ohw, moi je dis "I'm home".

I still have a dream to learn about prop styling - or rather a burning desire, actually, to be very honest. At least this weekend, when I came across Kim Ficaro's gallery. What I found there, how the flowers, fruit, food, interior, colors, are stylishly arranged, if only I could claim, is, oh so me...Sure I still have tons to learn! Happy weekend! :-)

Aaaw, I'm very busy this week...determined to reopen amretasgraphics.com this weekend. So my friends, probably there will be no graphic updates in this blog until next week. Till then, I'm leaving you with what inspires me this week: the wonderful collections from My Little Shoebox. They also have a lovely blog with lots of cute inspirations. It was two days ago that I went to a cute scrapbooking shop in a new hip shopping mall in Jakarta. I found there pretty kits from My Little Shoebox and so you see I went online checking their website and..oho, fell in love with all the stuff they display on their website and blog...

Omygoodness!! They are the prettiest! Read about Janet Hill on Daisy Pink Cupcake just now and I just had to post something about this! Then I followed the link to Janet's blog and I felt like having the prettiest web-wandering :-) Janet also has her shop on Etsy. If you're like me, you're just gonna fall in love with Janet's work, beware....

Remember the happy bears prints? Think they look nice with the white frame that I found at a junkyard sale. And, don't you think those jars and bottles are perfect to put flowers, colored pens and pencils? It makes me very happy just to look at them. Uh huh, junkstyle me!

{retro finds}

Gradually cleaning the space in my server today, I was fascinated by how much files I have accumulated over the past few years in my computer. Many of them, of course, were stored as inspiration, ideas, eye candies ... phewww! And while archiving the snapshots from my camera's memory card, I found these pictures I took of old Burda magazines from the 60s...oh yes now I remember digging my mother's collection of fashion magazines the last time I went home a few months ago. Somehow I was amused to find how interesting and hip their style is, so much in line with the current trend plus such an unarguable character. Adding a bit of tweaking and adjustment I dream of recreating the dresses and the coats. And look at the patterns, and the colors. I'm so glad mom still keeps those old magazines :-) Here they are a few little collages I put together from the snapshots.

Honestly. I have some kind of serious obsession and envie about living in a home like Kim Parker's: tastefully colourful and where every corner is decorated with her own artwork. As quoted from her website: "a designer with an exuberant style, Parker combines her own fantastic floral prints with unconventional flea market finds, fashionable antiques, and unique modern pieces to create a vibrant, colorful look."

Now, that's what I call "personal style" :-)
