{happy bear prints 2009}

Yippie! My first graphic artwork in 2009!!

For some of you who have been here several times probably know I've been looking ways to make the bigger version of my graphics without 'destroying' the handmade feeling. And then these past few weeks I've been cleaning up and redecorating my room and wanted to display some of my own creation. I was pretty pleased with the Live Love Laugh print series...but I was still dreaming of having some prints of my existing websets. So, after another series of trial and error, finally the "Eureka!" moment came last night. Photoshop is genius. After rescaling and spattering, my graphics were turned into crayon like drawings, and my bears still look cute and fuzzy :o)

To celebrate this, these first rose bear prints are free for everyone to download (pdf format). They come in two sizes, A4 and Letter, each of them. Probably I will call them "Happy Bear Prints". For the moments, there are only two prints with saying. "Happiness lives here" and "Le bonheur habite ici". It depends if some of you are interested in having the prints with the same saying in other languages, I might make ones too. Your comments are appreciated.

To download the prints (pdf files), right-click on DOWNLOAD below each preview and 'save target as'.

{rearrangement}

Hello I'm back :-) Oh, when was it the last entry? More than one month ago! Oh no. I can always say that I've been very busy at work these past few weeks..and I'm so glad end-of-year is finally there...that means holiday!! Yippi!! Some time off!!

The fact is, there have been some changes at work that I needed to re-adjust myself, and thought "probably i can work on it like this...or like that..." and the trial-and-error-and-tweaking went on. For weeks.

Somehow I managed to make some new prints for the member area, the Live Love Laugh series. I did have sometime off and sat there in front of my computer trying to continue the unfinished websets. But I ended up drawing some prints..it seems like I needed something to cheer myself up at that time :-D

And ok, one print is free for everyone to download here :-) Hope you like it. If you are member, there are 11 more prints in the member area.

[.on.Zinio.and.the.most.beautiful.flower.]

Guess what, I'm featured on Zinio's latest email newsletter :-) As you might know I'm an avid magazine reader and I'm so glad I found Zinio - from whom I can subscribe various magazines in digital format (view my entry about it here). They also have a great collection of literary classics, digitized and you can read them online. For me it's really convenient!

Anyway I've been sick these past few days. I don't know why it's always like that when I finally take a rest after done with a big project at work. The newbies are on the way, I still need to check this and that (for example, I just found out that the font "Tropicana" I used to decorate the book of quotes is not 'acceptable' when I transfered the InDesign file into .pdf). But I thought of giving a small preview on the weekly planner, the cover and the first two pages. If you see only days and weeks, no dates, it is intentional. The other book will have only dates, no days or week. Let me know what you think when they are uploaded this coming week.

And euh, talking about my favorite quote (notice that on the weekly planner preview... and some other pages in this blog :-)) - "The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all" - it is from this inspiring movie "Mulan", the words by the Emperor of China toward the end of the film - and somehow, while leafing one of my favorite magazines, Asian Geographic issue 3/2007, I saw this photography by Masako Imaoka "Portrait of Courage". And I was moved by this particular picture taken in Nahrin, Afghanistan in 2002. Don't you think, this perfectly illustrates the Emperor's words above? I cut and clipped the picture onto my inspiration board on my desk - along with the quote. They give me extra strength and courage :-)

[.diary./.weekly.planner.2007.]

So, yesterday was a trial-and-error day! *giggle* Sunday morning I finally managed to finish my 'latest creation' which is a diary / weekly planner for 2007 and I wanted to see how it looks when I print it out.

Now I'm so glad that I took the decision. The first print out turned out really bad - not only that the line looked 'sloppy' but the graphics were terrible (the colors looked okay though. So I got back to my original file (Adobe InDesign) and tried out several kinds of lines (changed the thickness, etc) until I got that thin grey line. Then tried to experiment with the graphics - the answer was finally this: the graphics had to be re-scaled so that the edges get smoother.

About 30 print-outs later, finally I got what I wanted. The last printout looked good I was soo happy! My housemate Fina liked it so much that I thought I'd found a perfect new year gift for her ;o) I added a few notesheets on the back, and voilà, I think I just made it, my very own diary! I'll bring it to the print-shop and have it ring-bound. And yes, thick carton paper with natural color for the cover. Maybe I'll cover it again with vintage fabrics later on.... Well, anyway, I hope you like it, too! ;o)

Find the new diary on the "printables" - on the menu on the left at Amreta's Graphic Corner.

Here are a few pictures (taken with my camera-phone, not very clear)
